The idea

Dale Hatmaker, Lineman & inventor

Dale Hatmaker is the inventor of the patented Pole Cone and Guy Cone, innovative vegetation management solutions developed specifically to help electric utilities combat invasive climbing plants such as kudzu while improving safety, reducing maintenance costs, and protecting critical infrastructure.

Drawing on decades of hands-on experience in the electric utility industry, Dale recognized that traditional vegetation management methods were reactive, labor-intensive, and expensive. Determined to develop a better solution, he designed the Pole Cone and Guy Cone to create a simple yet highly effective physical barrier that prevents vines from climbing utility poles and guy wires before they become a costly maintenance problem.

Expert Training & Implementation Support

Dale provides comprehensive, hands-on training both in the classroom and in the field, equipping utility personnel with the knowledge and practical skills needed for successful implementation. Drawing on extensive industry experience, he shares proven installation techniques, best practices, and guidance on optimal placement to maximize the effectiveness of the Pole Cone and Guy Cone. His practical approach helps utilities achieve consistent results, improve long-term vegetation management, and maximize the return on their investment.
